Timbuk2 launches Green section

July 23rd, 2008

Well you already know they make high quality crafted messenger bags, and more. Now the good folks at Timbuk2 have launched a new Green section of their website, jumping on the bandwagon to help promote sustainable living on this good planet of ours. The bags are made of a hemp and organic cotton blend, and there is a huge list of features you can read on their site. They have added a bunch of stuff to the Green section including the ridiculous Mac Air sleeve, created in a nod to the commercial with the manilla envelope.

Obey Commanda- The battle rages on

July 22nd, 2008

She is an instigator, she runs in the night, armed with her can of spray paint to spread the message of revolution to those too feeble minded to know they live in a world controlled by money and big business. The Obey Commanda image comes printed on a vintage grey heather t-shirt, and is a nice subtle shirt from this normally provocative company.

Gap Bomber- Don’t fleece bomb the Gap in it

July 21st, 2008

We know you might be tempted to bomb the Gap…it is one of those places that seems to (rightfully so) rile up people who care about the environment, and sweatshop labor etc. etc. This is however a nice zippered cotton fleece sweatshirt with a “mock” collar. It’s a simple overgarmant that will be perfect for those approaching fall weekends…but let’s not think about that yet it’s still summer! Dismiss this post and keep on going down the list…maybe come back to it in a month or so. Go ahead and bomb the Gap, just do it in a way that no one gets hurt, as annoying as some of those “we’re paid to be chipper” salespeople are, I think they are human too…some of them.

$59.50

Trilby Hat by Ataahua- Huzzah caffeine

July 20th, 2008

Here is a great little bit of recycling, a Cuban coffee growers hat constructed from “upcycled” Hessian coffee sacks. Each hat is a unique design obviously due to the source material being inconsistent. Here is a small blurb pilfered from the New Zealand design site about the Ataahua company that produced the hats-

Ataahua (Maori for Beautiful) is a Wellington based design company that produces unique linen products using contemporary pacific designs and quality craftsmanship. Founder/owner/designer Bernadette Casey marries Pacific and Western designs that reflect the unique beauty of our heritage and environment.

Mission Playground- Simple message, time to listen

July 16th, 2008

Mission Playground in San Diego is one of our favorite eco friendly companies. Here is a new organic cotton shirt from them with a simple message “Plant more homes, build less trees”. The world is coming around to many of the challanges facing us on an envirnmental level, it doesn’t need to be an inquisition, we just need to all be more aware, and start doing what we can to turn things around for our gracious host planet.

WESC Men’s Tiger- A tiger approaches

July 13th, 2008

They are of course one of the most revered cats of the jungle, the beautiful and mighty tiger. This is a lovely artistic rendering that captures the majestic animal perfectly as it makes its way through the tall grass. You don’t want to be on the receiving end of that focus.

1ofmykind Steampunk Butterfly- Spooky cool!

July 12th, 2008

We’ve posted about this excellent jewelry designer before, and were pleased to see this new piece upon returning to her elegant shop. This is obviously a special occasion ring, which will undoubtably be a great conversation piece. The one of a kind ring features a skull butterfly that actually spins around…see her site for more picts, and wish her well as her family member was recently injured by a drunk driver.
